Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BTLIT. We, faculty of ME believe that teaching and learning is a continuous process. Hence we are providing a strong foundation in fundamental concepts and offering expertise and solving techniques ability towards the new technologies. Department is offering best quality of technical education with senior most dedicated Professors and experts from Industry and IT fields. SERVICES

The Department of mechanical Engineering also provides services to various individual and organizations from industry. The services offered by the department are outlined below.

♦  Department has established all the laboratories and workshop as per VTU curriculam

♦  The total floor area available in the Department or instructional purpose is about 2200sqm.

OVERVIEW

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the year 1997. Over the years it has grown into a full-fledged Department offering undergraduate course in mechanical engineering and also looking to start post graduate courses. It has so for graduated more number of mechanical engineers who are contributing significantly to the development and running of various public and private organizations in India and abroad in the fields of, Industrial, Research, Academics, and Social sector.

REPROGRAPHIC FACILITIES

The Department maintains its own reprographic facilities which include photo copying machine, cyclo style machine, LCD data projector, Scanner, Laser Printer, overhead projector. An internet facility of 2MBPS is also available for both students and staff.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY

The Department maintains a library to meet the specific needs of its students. There are several Volumes, titles, Journals and CD’s available to students through out the academic year.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Department takes special initiative for the development of all students by organizing programs and activities like Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits, In-Plant Training, Class Room Seminars, Personal Counseling, Technical Paper Presentations and Sports etc.

STUDENT COUNSELING

A batch of 20 students is counseled under the guidance of a faculty member. Counseling of students is done periodically. The Faculty members discuss with the students about their activities, performance in the examinations, results, etc.

The Department has a unique “Mechanical Engineering Association" (MEA) which provides exclusive membership to the students of this department.
The association organizes several extra-curricular activities like: Seminars, Conferences, Technical Quizzes, Workshops, Guest Lectures, Symposiums, quarterly department newsletter, Organizing Industrial Visits and In-Plant training.

MOUs with Foreign Universities / Industries

The Department has MOU with University of Delaware, USA, including running of Delaware University course in Bangalore with all permissions and both staff and student campus exchange program for higher education.

The Department also has MOU with Infosys for Campus Connect Program to train the students and staff for Soft Skill Development.

Research activity

The R&D activities of the staff and the students have resulted in several publications both in the Indian and International Conferences as well as Journals. The R&D Headed by Dr. B H Lakshmana Gowda who has vast experience in Research and Academics. There are more than 300 publications by the department faculty in various national and international journals and conferences.

Mr.S.K.Muttagi Associate Proffessor is awarded AMULYA-12 by Karnataka state Innovation Council,Govt. of Karnatka for his Invention "New Multiple Fluid Dispensing Systems".
